”Emma The Amish Girl” is the featured Miss April on New American Pinup, an online pictorial magazine. The book New American Pinup is featuring currently features re tattooed and pierced models, even though it appears Emma The Amish Model has neither – perhaps that is next on her list?.

Could Emma The Amish Girl really be Amish?

The New American Pinup website contains multiple headlines saying "Emma The Amish Girl" "REALLY is Amish!" and includes a few pictures of her in Amish garb, for good measure. In many Amish groups, most youth have a "Rum Springa" or period of "running around". Rules on adolescents are relaxed during Rum Springa, sometimes up to and including letting them experience outside society. Youth can leave the lifestyle at that point, or they can return and be baptized as fully Amish. If she was raised Amish, Emma The Amish Model could have very well left after Rum Springa. Many rules within the Amish religious sect are being broken, if Emma The Amish Model is actually still practicing the Amish lifestyle – when not posing nude. Two years after the time Rum Springa usually starts, Emma would be old enough to pose in The New American Pinup – so she most likely is not still in her “running around” time.

Emma The Amish Model's spread in The New American Pinup may be the most ... ahem ... revealing foray of previously Amish or Amish culture into American culture, but it is not the only one. Several very closely-guarded religious sects have publicly experimented with outside culture. Just as often as these people leave their group, they return. Curly Oxide is a man that, for a while, became a rock star before recommitting himself to the Hasidic Jewish lifestyle. "Emma The Amish Girl" may be making sensational headlines for The New American Pinup, but she is most likely not the first, nor the last.
